They say it's always the one you don't know about who can really scare you. So we decided to
hang with Hawaii native Timothy Olyphant-the most mysterious star of Scream 2-who's sure to
make our hair stand on end starting December 12. Even though he was sworn to secrecy about
the movie's suspects, Timothy found some time to dish (over peppermint tea) with Seventeen
about shopping, high school, and why he yelled at Neve Campbell.

Seventeen: Give me the inside scoop on Mickey, your character.

Timothy: He's a film student, kind of a Tarantino guy, and he's friends with Sidney ( Neve
Campbell ) and her boyfriend, Derek ( Jerry O'Connell ). We follow all the rules of basic
sequels, which is that any character who is dead in the first movie is re-created. I would be Matt
Lillard, the best friend of the boyfriend.

Seventeen: Do you get to kiss anyone?

Timothy: Dammit, no. You would think that with that many...it's just not right. My character
has a big crush on Elise Neal's character, but I don't get anywhere with her.

Seventeen: Did you feel weird about being one of the new faces in the cast?

Timothy: Yeah, this movie is the "who's who" of young actors and then "who's that?"--that's
me. I was the only one in the cast not being asked for autographs.

Seventeen: What did you do in your spare time?

Timothy: There's not much to do in Atlanta, so the cast went to the gym together, went
shopping together, and dinner was always a group thing. It's that whole summer-camp
experience that making movies tends to be anyway.

Seventeen: Any mall stampedes?

Timothy: No, but there was one day when Rebecca Gayheart and I were separated from
everyone else at the mall, and this woman came up to her and wanted to hug her. She goes, "I
just want to say that you brought so much class to Beverly Hills, 90210," and then she walked
away. I went, "You were on 90210?" and she smacked me.

Seventeen: Did you see Scream when it came out?

Timothy: No, but I got to watch it with the cast in my hotel room. Let me tell you, Scream is
much more fun when Neve is in the room and you're like, "Neve! Neve! What are you doing?"
There's actually someone there to yell at.

Seventeen: What's your favorite horror movie?

Timothy: They all blend together. Freddy is the Nightmare on Elm Street guy. Jason's the
mask guy. Someone's doing a movie where Freddy and Jason meet. In my memory, they've
already met. There are so many of them out there, you'd think sooner or later they'd hook up.

Seventeen: Okay, so you weren't the class expert on slashers. Can you tell us what you were
like in high school?

Timothy: You know what's terrible? You answer that question like how you thought you were,
and anyone from high school who reads this will say, "You're so wrong." Stacey Kennedy is
probably saying, "No, he was a jerk."

Seventeen: Were you a jerk?

Timothy: I got away with everything-- as opposed to troublemakers who got incarcerated. I
didn't chop down the palm trees. I wasn't there when the cops showed up.

Seventeen: Will there be anymore Scream sequels?

Timothy: I heard only one more.

Seventeen: Are you in it?

Timothy: You tricky little...we're not allowed to discuss those things. Right now, it's all a big
thrill ride, and I'm just going around with it.
