MTV says that Lindsay Lohan, Anne
Hathaway, Jack Black, Steve Carell, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen,
Megan Fox, Jennifer Hudson, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Rumer
Willis, Brendan Fraser and Danny McBride are the first wave of
presenters to be announced for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, which will
be broadcast LIVE from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA
on Sunday, June 1st at 8pm/7c.
The basics: Another comedy from the Judd
Apatow College of Laughs, this one appears to have a decidedly
sardonic edge to it. James Franco ("Spider-Man") and Seth Rogen
("Knocked Up") star as a couple of stoners on the run from the law
after one witnesses a bad cop killing a drug dealer. Director David
Gordon Green ("Snow Angels") may not seem a natural fit with comedy,
but the word is that he handles the film's dark humor with a nice
touch.
Heat factor: Boiling. The online buzz is
strong, and producer Apatow has an unparalleled track record when it
comes to modern-day screen comedies.
